What Should I Do If My Presbyterian Medicare Plan Is Ending?

If your Presbyterian Medicare Advantage plan is ending after December 31, 2026, you have time to prepare. The important thing is to understand your options before choosing your next Medicare plan.

You don't need to make a decision today. Presbyterian says current coverage remains unchanged through December 31, 2026, with additional information about 2027 coverage and next steps expected in early October.

What Should You Do Now?

You don't need to choose a new plan immediately. Instead, use the time you have to prepare and make sure you compare the things that matter most to you.

1

Confirm Your Current Plan

Find your current Presbyterian Medicare Advantage plan name and confirm that it is one of the plans ending after December 31, 2026. Keep your plan documents handy while you prepare to compare your 2027 options.

2

Make a List of Your Doctors

Write down your primary care doctor, specialists, preferred hospitals and other providers you want to continue seeing. When new 2027 plans are available, you'll want to verify whether those providers participate in the specific plan you are considering.

3

Gather Your Prescriptions

Make a list of the medications you take, including the name, dosage and how often you take each one. Different Medicare plans can have different formularies, drug tiers, costs and pharmacy networks.

4

Compare Your 2027 Options

Once the 2027 plan information is available, compare more than just the monthly premium. Look at your doctors, prescriptions, hospitals, costs, benefits and maximum out-of-pocket exposure before choosing your next plan.

Don't wait until December to start preparing. Presbyterian has indicated that additional information about 2027 coverage is expected in early October. Having your doctors, prescriptions and priorities ready will make it much easier to compare your options when the new plans become available.

What Are Your Medicare Options?

If your Presbyterian Medicare Advantage plan is ending, you are not limited to one replacement. Depending on your situation, you may have several Medicare coverage options to consider.

1

Another Medicare Advantage Plan

You can compare Medicare Advantage plans from other insurance companies available in your area. Plans can differ significantly in their doctor networks, hospitals, prescription coverage, costs and extra benefits.

2

Original Medicare + Medicare Supplement

Another option may be Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement plan. This can provide broader provider flexibility, but eligibility and costs can vary depending on your circumstances.

3

Original Medicare + Part D

If you choose Original Medicare, you can generally add a standalone Medicare prescription drug plan to help cover your medications.

4

Dual Special Needs Plans

If you qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, you may have access to a Dual Special Needs Plan with benefits designed specifically for people who meet the plan's eligibility requirements.

There isn't one right choice for everyone. The best option depends on your doctors, prescriptions, healthcare needs, budget and eligibility. Compare the details before choosing your 2027 coverage.
