What Happens to My Prescriptions If My Presbyterian Medicare Plan Ends in 2027?

If your Presbyterian Medicare Advantage plan is ending, your prescription coverage will also need to be reviewed as you choose your 2027 Medicare coverage. Don't assume your medications will cost the same or be covered the same way under a new plan.

Your current prescription coverage remains in place through December 31, 2026. When you compare 2027 plans, check your medications, the plan's drug list, your pharmacy and your expected out-of-pocket costs before enrolling.

Your Prescription Coverage Could Change

Medicare Advantage plans can have different prescription drug benefits. A new plan may cover the same medication differently than your current Presbyterian plan.

1

Drug Formulary

Every Medicare drug plan has its own formulary, or list of covered medications. A drug covered by one plan may not be covered the same way by another.

2

Drug Tiers & Costs

Plans can place medications on different cost-sharing tiers. The same prescription could have a different copay or coinsurance under a new plan.

3

Pharmacy Network

Plans may have preferred and standard in-network pharmacies. Using a preferred pharmacy can sometimes mean lower out-of-pocket costs.

4

Coverage Rules

Some medications may have rules such as prior authorization, quantity limits or step therapy. Check the specific plan before enrolling.

What Should You Check Before Choosing a New Plan?

Have your medication information ready when you compare your 2027 Medicare options.

✓

Make a Medication List

Write down the name, dosage and frequency of every prescription you take.

✓

Check the Formulary

Make sure each medication is covered by the specific 2027 plan you are considering.

✓

Compare Your Costs

Look at copays, coinsurance, deductibles and the overall cost of the medications you take.

✓

Check Your Pharmacy

Verify that your preferred pharmacy is in-network and understand whether it is considered preferred or standard.

Your New Mexico Pharmacy Matters Too

If you have a pharmacy you regularly use in New Mexico, don't assume it will have the same cost under every Medicare Advantage or Part D plan.

Check the pharmacy network for the exact plan you are considering. Medicare says plans may have preferred and standard in-network pharmacies, and using a preferred pharmacy can sometimes reduce your out-of-pocket drug costs.
